Blue tansy in action
In today's post we are sharing 3 easy to make but very impressive formulations with you. These are:
1- A facial cleansing foam
2- A seboregulative facial cleansing gel
3- A seboregulative hydrogel serum/toner
all featuring our newly arrived blue tansy oil.
1-Facial cleansing foam
Ingredients
Phase A | |
German chamomile hydrosol | to 100,0% |
Skin prebiotic | 3,0% |
Aquaxyl | 3,0% |
NaPCA | 2,0% |
Aloe powder | 1,0% |
Panthenol | 0,5% |
Arginin | 0,15% |
Natural chelator PA-3 | 0,1% |
Phase B | |
Decyl glucoside | 6,0% |
Caprylyl/capryl glucoside | 3,0% |
Proteol APL EF | 2,0% |
Blue tansy oil | 0,1% |
Wintergreen oil | 0,1% |
Phase C | |
Preservative 1388 eco | 3,0% |
Versatile preservative BL | 0,5% |
Lactic acid | to adjust the pH |
Procedure:
1- Blend all of the ingredients in phase A in a beaker. It takes a while till the powders are completely dissolved. You can use a magnetic stirrer or an overhead stirrer but a spatula would be completely efficient for small volumes as well.
2- Blend phase B in another beaker.
3- Slowly add phase B to phase a and stir till completely homogeneous.
4- Prepare a 10% dilution and measure the pH. The pH should be at least 5,2 before you add the preservative.
5- Add the preservative and blend. This preservative system slightly increases the pH.
6- Prepare another 10% dilution and remeasure the pH. The final pH should be between 5,2-5,5. Use lactic acid if the pH is higher than 5,5.
This is the video tutorial for a prebiotic handwash we made a while ago. The procedure is exactly the same for this foam.
2- Seboregulative facial cleansing gel
Ingredients
Phase A | |
Thyme hydrosol | to 100,0% |
Skin prebiotic | 3,0% |
Aloe powder | 1,0% |
Aquaxyl | 2,0% |
NaPCA | 2,5% |
Na-lactate | 2,0% |
Panthenol | 0,5% |
Arginin | 0,15% |
Natural chelator PA-3 | 0,1% |
Phase B | |
Solagum AX | 1,5% |
Phase C | |
Decyl glucoside | 10,0% |
Caprylyl/capryl glucoside | 6,0% |
Proteol APL EF | 3,0% |
Natural active decalact sebum | 1,0% |
Blue tansy oil | 0,1% |
Ginger oil | 0,1% |
Patchouli oil | 0,1% |
Phase D | |
Preservative 1388 eco | 3,0% |
Versatile preservative BL | 0,5% |
Lactic acid | to adjust the pH |
Procedure:
1- Blend all of the ingredients in phase A in a beaker. It takes a while till the powders are completely dissolved. You can use a magnetic stirrer or an overhead stirrer but a spatula would be completely efficient for small volumes as well.
2- Disperse the gum in phase A. Here you will need a powerful overhead stirrer or a rotor.stator mixer.
3- Blend phase C in another beaker. When the gum is fully hydrated in the water phase slowly and gradually add the surfactant phase to the water phase.

Aquaxyl | 3,0% |
Skin prebiotic | 2,0% |
Na-lactate | 2,0% |
Na-PCA | 2,5% |
Aloe powder | 0,5% |
Arginin | 0,25% |
Natural chelator PA-3 | 0,1% |
Phase B | |
Ecogel | 1,5% |
Phase C | |
Vegeluron eco | 2,0% |
Cross-linked hyaluron | 3,0% |
Panthenol | 0,5% |
Phase D | |
Natural active decalact sebum | 1,0% |
Blue tansy oil | 0,1% |
Phase E | |
Preservative 1388 eco | 3,0% |
Versatile preservative BL | 0,5% |
Lactic acid | to adjust the pH |
Procedure:
1- Blend all of the ingredients in phase A in a beaker. It takes a while till the powders are completely dissolved. You can use a magnetic stirrer or an overhead stirrer but a spatula would be completely efficient for small volumes as well.
2- Heat phase A @ca 60 oC. Disperse the ecogel and continue stirring while trying to keep the temperature around 60 for 20-30 minutes.
3- Stop heating and when the mixture has cooled down to room temperature add phase C and then phase D and blend completely.
